Olof Mellberg is closed for two matches for his tackle against San Marino.

A tackle with studs before resulted in red cards for Olof Mellberg. It was then unclear how long Mellberg would be turned off but now has been cited by UEFA.

Mellberg turned off in two games and thus miss the European Championship qualifiers against Holland and Moldova. League Secretary Michael Santoft announced the start of today's national team press conference that it will not appeal the decision from UEFA.

According Santoft means that the center-half is back in Sweden European Championship qualifier against Finland, which does not conform to the game schedule when Sweden faces Moldova twice and the Netherlands once before the Finland match. It should therefore instead mean that Mellberg is back for a second meeting with Moldova.

Now the Swedish football asociation is making an appeal to UEFA to remove the ban. Some media portrayed Olof as animal and attached this picture as proof...but to me it prooves nothing...he's a player that gives 100% on each game and it's the right thing to do so!

Swden beat San Marino 6-0 in the friendly game for the upcoming Euro. unfortunattelly Olof got red carded in the 34th minute for a bad tacle. He didn't acutally hurt the guy but was sent off because he was "trying" to, according to the half blind referee...

Aug 10 (Reuters) - Former Aston Villa captain Olof Mellberg has told Reuters he was surprised by Martin O'Neill's sudden departure from the Premier League club.

The 32-year-old defender, who played under O'Neill during a seven-year spell at Villa, was speaking before Sweden's friendly against Scotland in Stockholm on Wednesday.

"I think it came as a shock to most people," Mellberg said. "I haven't spoken to the people over there in a while, so I don't know what happened there really."

O'Neill quit Villa days before the start of the new season, amid speculation that the club's owners were not allowing proceeds from player transfers to be reinvested in the squad.

Villa had three sixth-place finishes in the Premier League under O'Neill and lost the League Cup final to Manchester United last season.

"It's tough," Mellberg added. "They are one of the teams that has spent the most money over the last few years since he came in. Compared to Manchester City they haven't spent a lot of money, but compared to most other Premiership teams they have.

"I think everyone can look at the figures and the money spent, what they have bought and sold and make up their own minds if they think that is good enough for a club of Villa's size or not," Mellberg said.

"It's a great job, great fans, great history, great club. For any manager, to manage Villa is a privilege."

In the Olympic in Munich: Basil Bakopoulos

By returning to a normal pace and workout Dudu Mareska continued preparation of the Olympic Band Verischofen Germany. The return of Brazilian ... however, was not very pleasant, having accepted the teasing of teammates to block Brazilian national from Holland!

Participated in training and Mellberg, who arrived in Germany yesterday, faced, as usual, in excellent condition. The Linen and the Swedish teammates greeted with applause in the hope they would probably be grounded for the first 2 games in the European Besa.

The Linen expressed satisfaction about the state of Sweden: "I had no doubt that it is absolutely correct in his program. It is 100% professional. Hello hello hello! Guess who this is...YES, IT'S ME, JEN! SO listen, as most of you have no doubt gathered I've sort of given up on this here blog. Not for any real reason, I'm just sort of...over blogging. BUT I'm not over Olof, NOR am I over you people. Now, Josy, wonderful beautiful gal that she is, has been your faithful blogger for quite some time now, but I know that she is also feeling a little burnt out trying to maintain the blog, especially trying to find pictures. So last night I'm lying in bed and out of nowhere I get the idea: WHY DON'T WE MAKE A FACEBOOK FAN PAGE? That way ANYONE can post pictures, so it's not completely up to Josy.

Now, I have to figure out how to start a fanpage because I've never done it, but I'm sure it'll be easy to figure out. IN THE MEANTIME, if you haven't already head on over to the FIFA Worldcup 2010 Eye Candy page my friend started a couple of weeks ago. AND as soon as I figure out the Olof fan page I'll post it here. jen: I haven't been in AGES. I guess I'll have to make a decision about it soon, instead of just never showing up. As in, if neither one of us feel like running it anymore we can leave it (but not delete it! People take it over & just use it for ads, it sucks! lol) or put it on hiatus or something. Because yeah, the more I think about it, the more my heart's just not in it anymore. I love Olof, but yeah. Meh. LOL Anyway we'll talk ;) BUT YOU KNOW I'm always around HERE ;) ♥
